To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to discuss my experience with VIP Mentoring and my relationship as a Mentor to Edward H.
I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to mentor a young man named Edward H. Edward and I interact through personal visits, time at various events and telephone conversations. This sharing is done in hopes of encouraging Edward to mature into a responsible adult. Well, I must say, Edward is well on his way. Edward is a very grounded young man. He’s very intelligent, peaceable, courteous, kind hearted and considerate of others. Edward, already at age twelve, understands the importance of integrity. My experiences through VIP and with Edward has helped me in that, I am now more encouraged to encourage young people and to embrace leadership. As I bring into perspective how this young man views me, I can’t help but think of a game I played when I was a child: “Follow the Leader.” So, if I am the leader, it is so very very important that as I live life, I do it to the best of my ability. Not slothful, not grudgeful, not overbearing, but sincere and integral. That my seem like a huge responsibility, but Edward is just one person of whom I know is watching me. What about the people of whom I do not know are watching me? I hope with all that is within me, that what Edward sees and learns of me will benefit him far beyond my imagination.
It is for this reason, I believe it so very important for programs as VIP to continue to provide the necessary bridges between Mentor and Mentee. I believe VIP to be the catalyst of so many fruitful relationships. Edward and I are just one example of success.
Sincerely,
David H
